What to watch on TV tonight: Thursday

Here’s the TV that everyone will be talking about tomorrow.

Mattress Men (RTÉ One, 10.15pm)

There are a lot of things to love about Mattress Mick. Finally, the award-winning documentary about this quirky Dublin businessman in his sixties comes to our screens. Mattress Men tells the story of how two friends tried to turn Mattress salesman Michael Flynn into an internet star.

Feral Families (Channel 4, 9pm)

The first episode of this three-part documentary series airs tonight, which gives viewers a glimpse of what life is like for families who opt to raise their children without rules. Kids are allowed to run riot, don’t attend school, dye their hair, curse profusely and can eat ice cream at all hours of the night. The parents on the show fully believe that this parenting philosophy is having a positive effect on their kids.

Trauma: Ireland’s Medical Emergencies (RTÉ Two, 9.30pm)

RTÉ Two’s new documentary offers a typical insight to the everyday work that goes on in Irish trauma and emergency departments. Tonight sees a 29-year-old father rushed to the Mater Hospital in Dublin for emergency spinal surgery after he falls from 20ft.

Everybody’s talking about… The Disney Channel’s first ever gay story-line.

A key character in the popular tween series Andi Mack is set to come out as gay to his friends on the TV show. In an hour-long premiere episode of the show’s next season, the character Cyrus Goodman will come to terms with his sexuality on screen and will then share the news with his friends.

Disney stated that they “remain committed to continuing to create characters that are accessible and relatable to all children”and that the show’s creator Terri Minsky “takes great care in ensuring that it’s appropriate for all audiences and sends a powerful message about inclusion and respect for humanity.”

Further Back in Time for Dinner (BBC Two, 7pm) The Robshaw family travel back in time to the 20th century to discover the food that was eaten and how it helped shape the modern family.

Tin Star (Sky Atlantic, 9pm) Revenge thriller set in the Canadian Rockies.

Gordon Ramsay on Cocaine (TV3, 9pm) Not what you think at all. Ramsay investigates the criminal business behind the global cocaine trade.

Fighting Cancer: My Online Diary (Channel 4, 10.50pm) Three young cancer patients share their battles with cancer over the course of a year, detailing the highs and lows of their struggles.

At Your Service (RTÉ One, 8.30pm) Francis and John Brennan give business makeovers to small hotels, B&Bs and guesthouses.
